A Salute to Sesame Street

Better than Beckham (did I really just type that?), Sesame Street produced a DVD specifically devoted to children of deployed parents. Cuba Gooding Jr. hosts the show, which helps military children better understand the different stages and types of deployment.

Released last July, the movie follows Elmo as he learns why his father has to go away for a long time and what it all means. Though it is really geared to the 2-5 set, I imagine older kids might benefit as well.

Wal-mart donated $1.5 million to the project, making it possible for Sesame Street to give the DVD, along with a complete transition kit, to any interested military family for free.
