Reality Check

My brother Mike is also a military man and all around good guy who is currently enjoying employment in the stress bubble that is the Pentagon. He spends his days working with the big guys, keeping top secret stuff bottled up (he won't even tell me...Christine "The Vault" Maid), and basks in the ability to tell us he's known about a news story for weeks after we've all only just learned about it....show off.

So, yesterday, after my mother and I spent the day entertaining our own troops, we placed a call to Big Mike to see what he was doing. With a day of snow and another day of ice, we were climbing the walls with cabin fever and hoping he might have something to tell us for the purpose of distraction.

After we filled him in on a very exciting and dramatic story about running out of batteries just as we were about to play Ele-fun, he had to curtly end the call....Barak walked into his office.

At moments like this, when I look down at my apple sauce stained shirt (Joseph loves to fling) and I try to remember the last time I was able to go to the bathroom by myself, I have to repeat my brother's favorite refrain:

I'm just livin' the dream....

I was thinking about him when I heard that Obama was at the Pentagon the other day, figuring he may have met him. I'm sure Rob will enjoy the story - whichever parts of it aren't classified :) - during their next Sunday hoops game.

Would love to hear your thoughts on the octuplet mom, who already had six kids, and is reportedly single and lives with her parents in a three bedroom house, Milk Maid.
